Writer and social worker Laura Parisi King, also a
breast cancer survivor, teaches writing in this free
workshop for breast cancer patients and survivors on
Monday, October 29, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at
Adelphi University’s Alumni House in Garden
City.
This program is open only to breast cancer patients and survivors.
It is sponsored by a grant from
The New York State Department of Health, Community
Based Cancer Support Services.

singer/songwriter/performer, Billy Joel, is the honoree
receiving the Long Island State Parks’ Tenth Annual
Master Builder Award.
This honor is in recognition for his achievements
in the entertainment industry and his efforts to protect
Long Island’s historic maritime industries.

Dog Foundation to Hold 18th Annual Second
Sight® Bike-A-Thon

Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. will hold its
18th Annual “Second Sight®” Bike-A-Thon on
Sunday, September 16.
Both
novice and experienced bikers will enjoy a day of
exercise, food, and friends while supporting the Guide Dog
Foundation mission to improve the quality of life for
people who are blind, visually impaired, or who have other
special needs. This
year’s bike-a-thon features new revised routes of Long
Island’s North Shore with rides ranging from 10 to 65
miles long, and all rides begin and end at the
