Yaphank's Land Use
‘Visioning Workshop’ Draws Near

Important Smart Growth Planning Initiatives Planned for this Weekend

Supervisor John Jay LaValle will be working side-by-side with residents, planning consultants and officials on Saturday, August 10 at the Longwood HS auditorium at 1:00 p.m.

Supervisor John Jay LaValle, Councilman Ed Hennessey, Town officials, and “smart growth” planning consultants from across the nation will join Yaphank residents in planning the development of nearly 200 acres in their community.  This weekend-long workshop, scheduled for this coming weekend, will allow Yaphank residents an opportunity to share their thoughts, concerns and visions for the design of the Silver Corporate Park property, located along the north service road of the Long Island Expressway.  All land use and road planning stakeholders will participate and collectively sketch a vision for the future of Yaphank with Town, County, State, and Federal officials, local businesses, and the community at large.  The Yaphank Visioning weekend is the third of its kind hosted by Brookhaven officials joining the Mastic and Middle Island comprehensive land use plans.
