Smithtown Man Joins Consulting Firm |
|
Andi Gray, president of Strategy Leaders, Inc. (SLI) announced today the opening of a Long Island affiliate office and the addition of two new associate consultants — William O’Connell of Smithtown in Suffolk County, NY. and Stanley Cooper of Yorktown Heights in Westchester County, NY. Gray states, “Each successive year since 1995, SLI has served a broader client base of increasing size, scope and complexity. In a normal economy only one out of four businesses survive. Stan and Bill bring important skills to our operation — and unique types of experience that will help us meet the specific needs of our expanding client list.” Bill O’Connell states, "Working with Strategy Leaders presents me with a great opportunity to apply what I have learned in my 27 year career, and help business owners who are passionate about what they do but are constrained by a lack of in-depth business knowledge. Their track record shows that Andi Gray and SLI have developed an unparalleled program that can benefit many businesses in finance, sales, operations, marketing and human resources." O’Connell, formerly chief Information Officer at Consac Industries, Inc., left the $70 million manufacturer of dietary supplements in 2002 to become a consultant. Previously, he had been a member of the adjunct faculty at Pace University’s School of Computer Science and Information Systems where he taught Business Telecommunications. O’Connell’s
career began in 1976, after graduating from Manhattan College with a
Bachelor of Engineering degree. He worked as an engineer on several
nuclear and fossil fuel power
plants, and in 1979 he joined New York Telephone as an engineer,
subsequently earning Professional Engineering licenses to practice in NY,
NJ and CT. With
the breakup of AT&T in the early 1980’s O’Connell focused on
determining the allocation
of assets between AT&T and its New York Telephone subsidiary.
He was promoted to
a Manager of Revenue Analyst position in the Comptroller’s office at
NYNEX. In
1986 he moved to Citibank as an Assistant Vice President in the area of
Network Services and within a year, was promoted to Vice President.
Six years later, Citibank sold off its Merchant Card Processing
business to private investors as Card Establishment Services (CES) and
O’Connell joined the team in establishing this 3,000 employee spin-off.
In 1995 the investors sold CES to First Data, where Bill
O’Connell continued as a Vice President of Network Systems. Over
the years O’Connell’s academic credentials expanded to include a
Master of Science degree in Computer Science, with distinction, from Pace
University, and an MBA from Fordham University. O’Connell lives in Head of the Harbor in Smithtown, Suffolk County, NY with his wife Julie and their four children. He is a member of the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT) committee on wireless communications, and is also a volunteer to the Smithtown Central School District as a member of their Industry Advisory Board and a mentor to the high school’s e-Commerce Mentorship Program.
