Certilman Balin Names Five New Partners
Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP has announced that Candace Reid
Gladston, David Herold, Jodi Hoffman, Jothy Narendran, and Wayne
Schaefer have been named partners in the firm.
Candace Reid Gladston (Manhasset) practices in the Civil Litigation and
Criminal Defense Groups. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she received
her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science, from
Columbia University in 1984. In 1987, she earned her Juris Doctor,
magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where she was
honored with the Feliz Frankfurter Award. Ms. Gladston is admitted
to practice in the state of New York, as well as the United states Court
of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United states District Court,
Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York.
David Herold (Huntington), (formerly counsel to the firm) is now a partner
in the Real Estate and Banking Groups and concentrates in financing
multi-family and commercial properties. He has represented such
lenders as Bayside Federal Savings Bank, North Fork Bank, Home Federal
Savings Bank, Richmond County Savings Bank and New York Community Bank.
He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his Juris
Doctor from St. John's University School of Law. Mr. Herold is a
member of the Suffolk County and New York State Bar Associations. He
is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
Jodi Hoffman (Jericho) practices in the Real Estate Group. She
received her undergraduate degree in 1989 from Brandeis University and her
law degree in 1992 from the Albany Law School of Union University.
Ms. Hoffman is a member of the New York and American Bar Associations.
She is admitted to practice in the state of New York, and the United
States District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Jothy Narendran (Syosset) is a Partner in the Real Estate Group. She
represents institutional lenders in financing commercial properties.
Ms. Narendran earned a Bachelor of Science from the New York Institute of
Technology in 1987, a Master of Business Education from Hofstra University
in 1992, and a Juris Doctor from The Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center of
Touro College in 1996. She is a member of the Nassau County Bar
Association where she serves on the Real Property Law Committee. Ms.
Narendran is also a member of the New York State and American Bar
Associations and is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
Wayne Schaefer (West Babylon), a Partner in the Labor Group, practices in
the areas of public employees' disability and civil litigation. Mr.
Schaefer graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in
1979 with a Bachelor of Arts. He received a Juris Doctor from the
University of Miami in 1985. He is admitted to practice in the state
of New York, as well as the United States District Court, Eastern and
Southern Districts of New York.

Central Islip High
School Track Champions
Led
by Coach Christian Pisano, the Central Islip High School Boys’ Winter
Track Relay Team took first place in the 4x400 event at Suffolk West in a
crossover meet, qualifying them to compete in the Millrose Games. This is
the first time that runners from Central Islip High School have qualified
for this prestigious event, which takes place at New York’s Madison
Square Garden on February 1 at 5:30pm.
Central
Islip High School Administrator for Physical Education, Athletics, and
Health John Piropato said, “Central Islip is extremely proud of the
accomplishments of Coach Pisano and his outstanding athletes. Their
commitment and many hours of training have rewarded them. We wish them the
best of luck at the Millrose games.”
