On June 10, more than 300 local businesses will play host to thousands of visitors at the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce’s Festival Day. Rain or shine, Main Street will be lined with booths displaying hand crafts and discounted merchandise from local merchants. Food vendors will ply their wares, filling the air with the wonderful aromas of ethnic treats and local favorites.sday6.jpg (78622 bytes)

One of the highlights of the event each year is the entertainment offered at the Chase Bank park. Beginning at 11 a.m. festive performances are scheduled every hour. Plan to take a break and watch the show while enjoying some lunch-time fare or an afternoon snack.

sday4.jpg (82453 bytes)There are always  many activities for kids at the day-long fair. A petting zoo across from Bank Street and the pony rides in the Daffy’s parking lot are favorites. Strolling clowns and musicians will be on hand throughout the day and kiddie inflatables will be in the Bank of Smithtown parking lot, off Main Street. And if all of that doesn’t bring a smile to their faces, there is going to be face painting as well.

As always, the Smithtown Rotary will be offering free photo id’s of children for parents. In addition, many volunteer and community organizations will be represented with booths at which they will introduce their services and share valuable information all day.

Traffic will be detoured around the main thoroughfare from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. so that Main Street can become a pedestrian mall. WLUX radio will have a remote broadcast booth in front of the Chamber’s office at the corner of Bank and Main Streets.

It promises to be a wonderful day, with plenty to do and see.  You will find there is something for everyone in Smithtown.
