ANNUAL YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION String musicians who reside in Nassau or Suffolk counties may apply through February 12, 2003. Semi-finalists selected from a first round of taped auditions will perform for a panel of judges at Hillwood Recital Hall, Tilles Center located on the campus of C.W. Post in Greenvale on Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. Students selected for the final round will perform at 6:00 p.m., also on March 18 at Hillwood Recital Hall. The final round is open to the public, however, a reservation is recommended with a suggested donation. The first place winner will receive the $1,000 Maestro Christopher Keene Scholarship and will be invited to play with the Orchestra at the Long Island Philharmonic Annual Gala on May 8, 2003, at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The second place winner will receive the $750 Vincent S. Rossitto Award and the third place winner will receive the $250 Music Director's Award.
